About

Guerillamap is an independent platform for geopolitical news, military and conflict awareness. It acts as a global comprehensive military situation picture. We use several sources, mostly open available data (OSINT). Summarizing all the data on a map makes it easier to understand what is going on in the world.

To better understand global conflicts and geopolitical information campaigns it is also necessary to add other data despite news and military actions. For this purpose, guerillamap offers a vast palette of different data, ranging from natural disasters and weather to infrastructures and resource management.

The goal is to provide information on who controls what, with which measures, and who is fighting whom over the limited resources available.

Furthermore, guerillamap is not just a platform to discover, but also contribute. You as a user can be part of it by adding data or writing reports and articles. Guerillamap offers you a publishing platform without any costs and completely anonynous, if wished so. We really encourage you to contribute to the site, maybe we can grow to a military/geopolitical-focused OpenStreetMap one day!

What do we offer in detail:

  • Militaries: Where is the military infrastructure of which nation located, e.g. where are the military bases, or aircraft carriers located? Where does Russia have its Military Airports and what aircrafts are stationed there? Where are the Chinese nuclear silos or their new bases in the South China Sea? We even offer some real-time data to track military aircrafts, show air alerts in Israel or active fires using the NASA Firms dataset.
  • Infrastructure: Wars cannot be fought without a suitable infrastructure and infrastructure can also cause conflicts, for example water dams. We have seen it in the war in Ukraine, where power stations are major targets – or oil fields are still one of the most fought-over places in the Middle East.
  • Environment: Weather and natural disasters can change wars, but can also start them. The civil war in Syria was followed by years of droughts and food crisis. Climate change seems to increase natural disaster occurrence and therefore such conflicts may be even more frequent in the future.
  • Much, much more: Discover many more datasets, for example various satellite imagery by MAXAR, ESA Sentinel, Landsat etc. You can also add your own data by uploading kml files.
  • Tools: Besides seeing data you can also use the platform to generate your own data, you can draw and export points, lines, polygons and even grids or tiles as geojson/ kml respectively.

The big advantage of guerillamap compared to other news or war mapping sites is that guerillamap combines everything in a single map. You can really compare everything on one blink and decide what you want to display.

Guerillamap was founded in 2023 as an open-source free-for-discover platform in Switzerland. Guerillamap still operates from and is under the jurisdiction of Switzerland and is a non-government organization.

Please consider that guerillamap is not politically neutral. We are defenders of democracy, human rights and peace across the globe. We live with western values and want to reveal propaganda campaigns and military actions that target our society and way of life.
